Food Glorious Food

The Avondale cafeteria has always played an important role in the lives of students at staff and made a huge contribution to the Avondale campus culture. Many present and past students remember the good times catching up with friends at the ‘CAF’ as well as the many banquets and special events held there.

2023 is going to be an exciting year. Plans for upgrading the cafeteria are in place. There is a new management team all set to begin the next phase of the cafeteria journey at Avondale University. As we welcome our new team, we say a big thank you to our outgoing team for their service in feeding us all, by no means an easy task! We wish them all the best in future endeavours. 

As always with a new team comes new ideas, new menus, as well as plans for renovations and a new look.

On October 26th a trial tasting session of the new ‘menu’ was held with staff and students at the weekly ‘PULSE’ event.  Hosted by the chaplaincy department, PULSE takes place on Wednesdays during semester, creating a community-building opportunity that brings staff and students, both on-and off-campus, together for a time of fellowship, food and fun.

The tasting event was blessed with beautiful weather as many of students and staff attended the free lunch on the lawns outside the Cafeteria. They all gathered to try the new food options, and the great company and glorious weather all combined to deliver smiles, conversation, and new connections. Students and staff provided feedback on the various dishes via an online rating app for each dish they tried. 

There were lots of positive comments for the sampled dishes and most were so absorbed in the good vibes and community feel that they almost forgot to make it back to class for 1pm!

We look forward to the new team, new food and new cafeteria in 2023.
